The Heavens is an original composition by Nathaniel Drew written for the “ask” album released in 2021. Nathaniel is a very creative film composer and entrepreneur who is featured on multiple Lyceum albums. With this composition, he said that he set out to just write something that would elevate the listener. Something that would bring us closer to Heaven, so we called it “The Heavens” and at first it didn’t have any specific ties to the Christmas story. The ask album came out in November and soon the composition began attracting attention. We received an invitation from the local CBS television station and Resilient Utah to be a part of their “Hope For The Holidays” Christmas special. Nathaniel and director Kayson Brown immediately started working on a way to take this uplifting original music and make it special for Christmas. There are so many cheesy Christmas music videos on YouTube that we were at first a little hesitant. Then we contacted the like-minded film studio that produces The Chosen TV series. Both The Chosen and American Heritage School which sponsors the Lyceum Youth Orchestras are independent institutions working hand in hand with the religious community to bring uplifting media and education available to the world. The collaboration brought new meaning to the music as though it was written specifically for the footage. The program aired multiple times on CBS and has since become one of our all-time favorite Christmas videos (that was never originally supposed to be about Christmas).
