Simply Three exists in this incredible world of combining serious classical training with pop music. After seeing them perform, we quickly booked them to take up residency at the Lyceum Music Festival 2016. The theme for the LMF repertory was Rome & Juliet including works by Tchaikovsky, Bernstein, and of course Prokofiev. We love so many genres of music and bringing Simply Three gave us the perfect opportunity to juxtapose two of our favorites – Classical vs. Pop — “two households in ancient grudge match.” Of course the end result is some crazy classical crossover that hopefully draws new interest into the amazing work of Prokofiev and the endless possibilities of orchestral music. The nearly 100 high school students who make up the American Heritage Lyceum Philharmonic recorded the audio during a 2-hour rehearsal in Utah. Simply Three did their magic recording their solos back in Arizona. We actually only had one day to do all the filming. It was recorded in 6K by the amazing Mark Andersen. We recorded at director Kayson Brown’s old haunts – The Pie Pizzeria (where the music majors eat at the University of Utah) and of course the stunning Libby Gardner Concert Hall on the University campus.
